Bad Reichenhall – Alpine health resort
The Bavarian State Spa of Bad Reichenhall, along with its neighboring township of Bayerisch Gmain, is characterized by a long tradition of providing health. Thanks to natural resources, such as AlpenSole brine, Alpine salt, mineral-enriched mud, dwarf pine and the mild Alpine climate, great healing and treatment successes have been achieved for a long time. The entire town possesses an Alpine character benefitting the body, mind and soul.
Old Salt Works – source of the AlpenSole brine
For centuries, the valuable "white gold" has been mined here, which in former times symbolized power and wealth far more than today. The Old Salt Works in Bad Reichenhall is one of the most significant industrial monuments in Bavaria today. The brine spring pumping plant, with its ever-turning water wheels, is an impressive machine above ground. But below ground a fascination world can be admired as well: brine springs, channeled in marble beds, flow through a widely branched system of tunnels to culminate in a vaulted structure, Bad Reichenhall’s oldest unaltered building.
Something quite unique is offered in the mystical brine grotto of the Old Salt Works, the heart of Bad Reichenhall: brine spring training. Shielded from all disruptive elements of everyday life, a very special breathing training is practiced here that increases overall performance. The focus on breath perception is increased while listening to the sound of water quietly flowing and individual droplets drip in the background.
